The LIRIMA, International Laboratory for Computer Sciences and Applied Mathematics, was founded in November 2009 for a period of 5 years by Inria and seven other institutions in sub-Saharan Africa and Maghreb. During this period, LIRIMA has gathered together researchers of these African partners with researchers from Inria and other French and European institutions in joint projects, based on Inria project-teams model.
12 project-teams, evaluated in the middle and at the end of the period, has composed LIRIMA during the period 2010-2014.
A new agreement, signed in 2015, brought some modifications in the organization and activities of the International Lab. Furthermore, it established the creation of the Inria International Lab « LIRIMA » for a duration of 4 years, and aims to:
strengthen the visibility and the dynamism of LIRIMA
reach an excellent scientific level recognized at the international level
give more flexibility in the creation of new research teams.
Proposals for new teams will be submitted to Inria “Associate teams” program. The proposals should be transmitted first to the Direction of LIRIMA, which will support the teams in the presentation of their project. In this way, new teams can be integrated into LIRIMA every year.
This way of operation is effective up to January 2015.
